Oral health effects

  • Few direct mouth effects; some glaucoma medicines can cause dry mouth or taste change

Glaucoma itself has no established direct effect on oral health. Some systemic glaucoma medications (e.g., certain carbonic anhydrase inhibitors) may cause altered taste or mild dry mouth, and anticholinergic precautions apply for narrow-angle glaucoma.

Clinical management: No specific oral management for the disease itself. Note narrow-angle glaucoma as a relative caution for anticholinergic agents.
