Oral health effects

  • Less platelet/GI effect; possible mucosal reaction

    COX-2 selectivity spares platelets (less bleeding) and the gastric mucosa relative to non-selective NSAIDs; rare oral mucosal reactions.

    Clinical management: Useful when bleeding/GI risk is a concern; weigh cardiovascular cautions; sulfonamide allergy contraindication.
