Lacosamide

Oral health effects

  • Dry mouth; limited direct effects

    Mild xerostomia; few specific oral effects.

    Clinical management: Hydration and caries prevention.

  • Dizziness and fainting (cardiac rhythm effects)

    Lacosamide can prolong the PR interval and cause syncope (label warnings); dizziness is among its most common side effects (≥10%).

    Clinical management: Raise the chair slowly and let the patient sit before standing. Report fainting, palpitations or a slow or irregular pulse to the prescriber.
