Oral health effects

  • Oral irritation / dry mouth; supports perio healing (cessation)

    Gum/lozenges can cause local mucosal irritation, hiccups, and dry mouth, but enabling smoking cessation substantially improves periodontal and oral-cancer risk.

    Clinical management: Encourage cessation; manage local irritation; reinforce the periodontal benefit of quitting.
